Welcome to My Grandma Martie's House!

After!

It all began in 2006 when my cousins (Kate & Meg) came to visit me while I was studying abroad in Florence Italy. We bought this tapestry to bring home as a gift for our Grandmother. It was so special to her (and she was ready for a change) that it replaced the huge wall of family photos that we all so dearly loved! Everyone had their own face in a frame that would get swapped out with the latest school photo.

Out with the family & in with this "Madonna of the streets!" We hung it and I did some decorative painting around it. Not until this year was grandma ready for another change. She didn't like the blue walls anymore, so she had it painted. We thought painting around the whole thing might look nice, but it was wayyyyy to blue. So, I came up with a mural idea to tie it all together, and THAT it DID! I used the wall color as the clouds, they came out looking heavenly, just perfect. Then added a little Italian countryside at the bottom. I had SO much fun doing this today, who's wall is next?!
Below is a gallery of detail photos!

While we're in her house...Here's an oil painting I did of her. [2007]

And here is one of her today, 93 years young, banging pots outside to scare the crows away.
Lots of laughs today!

Kristen, you are such a joy and so very upbeat. My wall is next!! But not until I have my Adirondack addition built this summer! Think of a good Adirondack mountain scene (maybe with lake water in the background; and if I can save up the moola for the addition, it's a go!!!

Another SPECTACULAR display!! Your talent never ceases to amaze me. The space looks so cozy on these cold winter days and nights.
We are so proud of you, Kristin.

Kristen is a very talented and upcoming artist. I love her and wish her the very best there is in her career and in her personal life. She reflects her soul in her breath-taking work. She painted a most touching portrait for me of a woman pouring her mourning tears into a classic tear bottle. This was to commemorate my late husband. And, Kristen has done some fantastic painting for my nephew and his wife of the Green Island, New York, bridge, which they proudly display in their foyer.
Lots of success and love to a person who has many positive traits and positive thoughts that go into her personal life and her painting life.
Love,
Cousin Carol Ann
